Installation
The installation program covers the entire Vistasource RTW product suite including the RTW engines and RTSHARE.

When upgrading from Vistasource RTW 4.4 and earlier to RTW 4.5, you must uninstall your version of RTW completely before installing RTW 4.5. The RTW 4.5 installer has been upgraded and is no longer compatible with previous versions of RTW. To uninstall the previous version of RTW, use the Windows Uninstall option from the Control Panel.
RTW Engines
Install
After downloading RTW, run the executable and select Yes to continue.
A prerequisites window may display if you don’t have the required prerequisites on your machine. Click Install.
The InstallShield Wizard dialog will appear with a Welcome screen, click Next to continue.
Read the License Agreement, select YES to continue.
Select a destination location for the software. The default destination folder in Windows 7 is C:\Program Files (x86)\Vistasource\RTW\4.5 and in Windows XP C:\Program Files\Vistasource\RTW\4.5.
Click Next to continue.
On the Select Features screen, choose to install Vistasource RTW and the desired RTW engine(s) for your installation. Click
Next to continue.

The installer will install the necessary files according to your choices in step 5 and then display a final screen. This screen will provide the option to review the product release notes and license the product.
Click Finish to complete the installation.
For Users without Administrative Privileges in Windows XP
In Windows XP, administrator privileges are required to run the installer. If you are logged on as a standard user, you have the following options:
The system administrator can give administrator privileges to the user. In this case, you can proceed with the installation as described under
Installing the RTW Engines.
If step 1 is not possible, you need to run the installer executable 'as administrator.' This process requires the following steps:
Right-click on the installation executable and select Run as. The Run As dialog displays.
Select The following User, and enter Administrator as username and then the Administrator password.

Uninstall
Please make sure that Microsoft Excel and any other Microsoft Office component such as Microsoft Word are closed, when you run the Uninstall option in the Add/Remove program.
Files that are not installed by the RTW installer, but are in the RTW installation directory, will not be removed by it. If such files exist, they will require manual removal from the application directory. For instance, you may have copied the mktdemo files into the application directory.
Using the Windows Add/Unistall Programs Utility
Select Start → Control Panel from the Windows taskbar.
Select Programs and Features.
The Programs and Features dialog box appears.
Select RTW.
Click Uninstall.
The RTW InstallShield Wizard opens.
Select Remove and click Yes. A dialog box displays requiring the confirmation of the uninstall process. After confirming the option, the uninstall process continues until the program is uninstalled
Using the RTW Install Wizard
Select Start → Run from the Windows taskbar.
The Run dialog box appears.
Browse to the directory where the file was saved and double-click on the file “Vistasource RTW 4.5”.
The User Account Control Window displays. Click Yes
The RTW InstallShield Wizard opens.
Select Remove and click Next. A dialog box displays requiring the confirmation of the uninstall process. After confirming the option, the uninstall process continues until the program is uninstalled
RTSHARE
The installation of RTSHARE requires a client/server setup. The server hosts the RTSHARE server product and communicates the data between the different client machines via the network. The clients share and receive cell data.
The examples in this help section are based on a Windows 7/Excel 2010 installation. If necessary, information regarding Windows XP is provided.
A typical setup includes an RTSHARE Server machine and one or more RTSHARE Client machines. Click on the links below for information on how to install RTSHARE on server and client machines:
Client
After downloading RTW, run the executable. A security warning may appear, select Yes to continue.
A prerequisites window may display if you don’t have the required prerequisites on your machine. Click
Install.

The InstallShield Wizard dialog displays with a Welcome screen, click Next to continue.
Read the License Agreement, select Yes to continue.
Select a destination location for the software. By default the destination folder will be:
In Windows 7:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Vistasource\RTW\4.5 and in Windows XP:
C:\Program Files\Vistasource\RTW\4.5
Click Next to continue.
On the Select Features screen, select
Vistasource RTSHARE - Client.

Click Next to continue.
The RTSHARE File Modifications screen displays.

Leave the default setting “Let Setup modify the Services file.” In both Windows 7 and Windows XP, the file is located in C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc. The installer will add the following line to the services file:
rtshare 5494/tcp
. If you decide not to keep the default selections, see
Manual Installation Steps for the RTSHARE Client below.
Click
Next. The installer installs the necessary files and then displays a final screen.

This final screen includes options to review the product release notes and to license the product with either a permanent or evaluation license. These options are checked by default to allow instant access of the latest product information and to license the product. For more information about how to obtain a product key and the Vistasource Online Licensing Tool, see
Obtain a Product Key. The release notes can also be accessed at any time from the install directory or via the About dialog in the product.
Click Finish to complete the installation.
When you start MS Excel, the RTW and RTSHARE User Interface is added to Excel accessible via the Vistasource Menu/Ribbon.
Manual Installation Steps for the RTSHARE Client
If you decide not to keep the default setting “Let Setup modify the services file” on the RTSHARE File Modifications Screen (Step 6 above), the required change to the Services file must be done manually for the program to work. In both Windows 7 and Windows XP, the Services file is located in C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc. The required steps are dependent on your selections in this dialog. If you choose:
Save the required changes to Services. NEW file - After the installation completes, you will need to navigate to the C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc directory, back up your original Services file and rename Services.New to Services.
Do not make any changes - After the installation completes, you will need to navigate to the C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc directory, edit the Services file using any text editor, and add the following line to the bottom of the file:
rtshare 5494/tcp
NOTE: A blank line must follow this entry, otherwise the connection will fail.
Server
After downloading RTW, run the executable. A security warning may appear, select Yes to continue.
A prerequisites window may display if you don’t have the required prerequisites on your machine. Click
Install.

Vistasource RTSHARE - Server.

Click Next to continue.

Click Next to continue.
The next window contains two options which are checked by default. We recommend keeping the default settings.

Add an exception for rtshare to the firewall -These firewall exceptions are needed for rts_share and rtshare. To view these settings, choose
Control Panel →System and Security →Windows Firewall → Exceptions. If a Virus Protection Software is running, firewall settings may be managed by that program. In case you decide not to keep the default selections, see
Manual Installation Steps for the RTSHARE Server below.
Start rtshare when Windows starts up - The default setting is for the installer to configure the RTSHARE Server to automatically start when Windows starts and a user logs in the computer. When RTSHARE is started, the RTSHARE icon is added to the taskbar area together with a brief window about the licensing status. By right-clicking on the icon, you can access the
RTSHARE Admin Window,
view logs,
server_stop_start, access the online help and view the RTSHARE About dialog box. If you decide not to keep the default selections, see
Manual Installation Steps for the RTSHARE Server below.
Click Next to continue.
If installing on Windows 7, the RTSHARE User Information window displays.

Enter the user account. In the field User name, enter the DOMAIN\username or browse to select the correct combination. Then enter your Windows password. Click
Next to continue. If you need to create a new user, click
New User Information and complete the subsequent window. Click
OK to return to the RTSHARE User Information window and then click
Next to continue.
The final screen includes options to review the product release notes and to license the product with either a permanent or evaluation license.

These options are checked by default to allow instant access of the latest product information and to license the product. For more information about how to obtain a product key and the Vistasource Online Licensing Tool, see
Obtain a Product Key. The release notes can also be accessed at any time from the install directory or via the About dialog in the product.
Click Finish to complete the installation.
To start the server, reboot. Alternately, for instant access, click Start→All Programs→Vistasource→RTSHARE. The Vistasource RTSHARE icon is added to the taskbar.
RTW and RTSHARE Client are not part of the RTSHARE Server installation.
Manual Installation Steps for the RTSHARE Server
During the RTSHARE Server installation, the following takes place if you decide to leave all default options selected:
Vistasource–>RTSHARE is added to the Windows Start menu.
Two firewall exceptions are set:
rtshare gets installed as a service in Windows and automatically started when Windows starts .
If you decide not to keep some or all of the default options during the installation, the following manual actions may be required, depending which option is changed:
Let Setup modify the services file
If you uncheck this default setting on the RTSHARE File Modifications Screen, the required change to the Services file must be done manually for the program to work. In both Windows 7 and Windows XP, the Services file is located in C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc. The required steps are dependent on your selections in this dialog. If you choose:
Save the required changes to Services. NEW file - After the installation completes, you will need to navigate to the C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc directory, back up your original Services file and rename Services.New to Services.
Do not make any changes - After the installation completes, you will need to navigate to the C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc directory, edit the Services file using any text editor, and add the following line to the bottom of the file:
rtshare 5494/tcp
NOTE: A blank line must follow this entry, otherwise the connection will fail.
Add an exception for rtshare to the Windows Firewall
If you uncheck this default option on the RTSHARE Server options screen, the exceptions must be manually added to the Windows Firewall. If a virus protection Software is running, consult your virus protection program on how to manage exceptions to the firewall. The firewall exceptions are:
Start rtshare when Windows starts up
If you uncheck this default option on the RTSHARE Server options screen, you need to manually start RTSHARE after logging into the computer. To manually start RTSHARE, click Start →All Programs →Vistasource→RTSHARE. The RTSHARE icon will appear in the taskbar area together with a brief window about the licensing status. By right-clicking on the icon, you can access the RTSHARE Admin window, view logs, stop/start RTSHARE, access the online help and view the RTSHARE About dialog box. If you decide at a later point to have RTSHARE automatically start up when Windows starts up, the easiest way to add RTSHARE to the startup is by re-runnnig the installer:
Start the installer. The installer detects that you already have RTW components installed. On the RTW and RTSHARE installation screen, click on Modify. On the Select Features screen, leave the selections the same, click Next and on the RTSHARE Server options screen leave the default 'Start rtshare when Windows starts up' toggled on. Click Next and finish the installation. Next time you reboot, RTSHARE will start when Windows starts and the user logs in.
Installing or removing the rtshare service manually
To manually install or remove the RTSHARE service:
Click on All Programs→Accessories
In Windows 7, right-click on Command Prompt and select Run as administrator. In Windows XP, right-click on Command Window.
A command window opens.
Navigate to the install directory for RTSHARE. The default directory is:
In Windows 7: C:\Program Files (x86)\Vistasource\RTW\4.5 and in Windows XP: C:\Program Files\Vistasource\RTW\4.5
Enter the executable rtshare followed by the relevant arguments. rtshare supports these three arguments:
-install (install the service)
-remove (remove the service)
-removeq (remove the service, quietly (no info/error messages))
To verify:
If installed, the RTSHARE Service should be listed in Services (Windows Task Manager)
If removed with -remove, a confirmation window is displayed.
If removed with -removeq, no confirmation window is displayed.
Client and Server
For a Client/Server installation on the same machine, follow the steps as outlined in Installing the RTSHARE Server, but select both RTSHARE Server and RTSHARE Client in the Select Features screen.
After finishing the installation and licensing the product, start Excel. The RTW and RTSHARE User Interface is added to Excel as part of RTSHARE Client and accessible via the Vistasource Menu/Ribbon.
For RTSHARE Users without Administrative Privileges in Windows XP
In Windows XP, administrator privileges are required to run the installer. If you are logged on as a standard user, you have the following options:

Continue with the installation as described under
Installing RTSHARE. If you are installing the RTSHARE Client, upon completion of the installation, the client add-ins require a manual installation.
Start Excel and select Files → Options → Add-Ins. The Excel Add-in Manager dialog box opens.
At the bottom, select Manage Excel Add-Ins and click Go.
The Add-Ins dialog box comes up, click Browse.
Navigate to the RTSHARE installation directory, which by default is C;/Program Files/Vistasource/RTW/4.5
Select rts.xlam and click OK. Vistasource RTW should appear in the Add-in window.
Repeat steps f and g.
Select rtshare.xlam and click OK. The Vistasource RTSHARE Client should appear in the Add-in window.
Click OK in the Add-in window and the Vistasource Ribbon will be added to Excel.
Uninstall
Please make sure that Microsoft Excel and any other Microsoft Office component such as Microsoft Word are closed, when you run the Uninstall option in the Add/Remove program.
If the RTSHARE process is still running when you try to uninstall, a reboot is required by the uninstaller.

FLEXlm License Server
The FLEXlm license server allows running a license server on a dedicated machine that is independent of any other machine that may have RTW, RTSHARE Client or RTSHARE Server installed. To run the license server instead of using the integrated Vistasource Online Licensing Tool, the License Server Only component must be installed.
After downloading RTW, run the executable. Select Yes to continue.
A prerequisites window may display if you don’t have the required prerequisites on your machine. Click Install.
The InstallShield Wizard dialog will appear with a Welcome screen, click Next to continue.
Read the License Agreement, select YES to continue.
Select a destination location for the software. The default destination folder in Windows 7 is C:\Program Files (x86)\Vistasource\RTW\4.5 and in Windows XP C:\Program Files\Vistasource\RTW\4.5.
Click Next to continue.
On the Select Features screen, choose to install License Server Only. Click Next to continue.
The installer will install the necessary files and then display a final screen. This screen will provide the option to review the product release notes and license the product.
